Last week was the last school week in Bavaria and it was time for the final report cards for the school year. This week was the start of the summer tutoring program for those kids who need the extra tutoring. Now, I had this girl in English who reportedly only got grades 5 and 6 (which pretty much equals an F cause I don't think there is an E in the Americn grading system, is there?) in her exams before I started tutoring her. Her biggest problem were the different times and after a lot of practicing, it finally made click and she got it. She's a 9th grader btw. From that point on, she started getting 3s in her exams and homeworks (which equals Cs). Now, at the end of the school year, all grades are counted together and the average will make your grade. In her half year report card, the girl had a 5.4, making her grade a 5 (F). At the end of the school year, her grades had improved and she was down to a 4.5 due to the 3s in her exams. But guess what - a 4.5 gives her an F in the final report card as well! Man, that girl worked so hard and she improved almost a whole grade but she still ends up with a F! So now she's in my English summer course and I am tutoring her again. I feel so sorry for that girl....
