I finally went to see it today - after I forgot to yesterday. And OH MY FRELLING GOD! Anyone has to go watch this movie! Even though it has Tom Cruise in it It's an awesome movie! Lots of cool special effects... and I even forgot I needed to go to the bathroom really bad since even before the movie. It really caught me from the beginning to the end. Now, I have never heard or read the original, so I dunno how it compares to that, but it was definitely awesome. Minor problems though after the break!
As I said before, I don't know the original H.G. Wells version, but I thought the ending was kinda weak. You know, they come to Boston, dead Tripods everywhere.... and at that point I was really asking myself why these creatures were dying to begin with. 5 seconds at the end and we're told bacteria killed them? I was like, HUH?? I would have found it more plausible if they had just said that they all died because Ray killed one of them and now their union was severed or something. Yep, I could have lived with that, but BACTERIA????
I also thought parts of the movie were kinda gory. You know with the blood vessels hanging around in trees and such and blood gushing all over.... That really made me go eeeeeewww at some points.
And I wish they would have left the boy dead. If that was Farscape, he would have been dead LOL But no, they come home to Boston and there he is *sigh*
Spoilers over :)
Anyways, Dakota Fanning was absolutely stunning in the movie. I already liked her in Sam I Am when she played Sean Penn's daughter. She's gonna be one fine actress once she grows up :) And if she stays in the business that is.....
The showed a couple of previews before the movie. One was for SciFi's BSG (why could they never advertise Farscape like that????). The one that really caught my breath though and that I absolutely go have to watch as well was Peter Jackson's King Kong. From the first 2 minutes of the movie I would have never ever thought I was watching the King Kong trailer. But I am sucker for any kind of horror stuff, and that just appealed to me :) So I gotta go watch King Kong when it comes out....
That's it for today. I am still kinda numb for that frelling awesome movie :)
