I was just rewatching Fires of Pompeii for whatever reason and was struck by something that apparently also was a thin red line throughout the season but I have never seen mentioned. Maybe I just didn't read the right posts LOL When Lucius confronts the Doctor and Donna about being being from Gallifrey and from London, not only does he tell the Doctor that "she is returning" (and we all knew what that meant at that point, right :D ) but he also tells Donna that "there is something on your back". HUH! Okay, so back that in the second episode that made no sense, but having seen Turn Left, it makes absolute sense! Lucius saw what was going to happen to Donna as well. I wonder if any other episodes before Turn Left mentioned that as well. It just struck me really that they would also mention that as soon as episode 2.....

I was actually annoyed because I thought it made less sense after Turn Left. It wasn't on her back at that point so it should have been "there will be..." and in Stolen Earth she is told "there was something on your back"

Well, that creature on Donna's back fed off time and altered it. It existed in some kind of different dimension or something. Lucius has no idea about travelling in time and space, let alone different dimensions. His ponderings are not quite accurate in time. He said "she is returning" when in fact, Rose had already returned to Earth, she had just not met the Doctor yet. She met Donna though. People only ever saw the creature when it sat on Donna's back "in real time". Since Lucius can see the future, it could be that two future realities and dimensions got merged into one and for Lucius, not knowing the concept of all of it, it seemed to be the now and then.....

Yes, he does! He also pauses for a moment (as if struggling to determine) when identifying Donna as being from London... seeing a bit of Gallifrey in there, perhaps?

I always thought the hesitating as being unable to place her country. Neither Great Britain not United Kingdom existed at that point.... London, however, already was founded a few decades prior to Pompeii vanishing.

Yup, you've been reading the wrong posts. I read people speculating about what that meant way back when that aired. :D
