Did I ever mention I am a absolute total klutz?
I spent 3 hours in the ER today.... involved minor surgery as well. Ick.
I dropped a shelf board onto my foot. Since I wasn't wearing any shoes, the edge of the board hit me right onto my right big toe. Big owie, looky looky at the toe - stupid toenail had shattered right in the middle and was bleeding like hell. Ack! Since the toe started to swell as well and hurt like hell, I asked my roommate to drive me to the ER. Had the foot x-rayed. Luckily not broken, phew. They had to remove the whole toenail though. Owie, owie, owie. I am pretty squeasy when it comes to removing toenails or fingernails. I can take everything else but not that. I actually asked the doc if they could knock me out completely LOL Of course the wouldn't and I just got some local anesthetic. They pretty much numbed my whole foot which was good. One of the docs also got me his mp3 player and a blindfold so I wouldn't hear and see a thing. Have to say, the doc had a nice music in taste (Linkin Park and Coldplay was what I listened to). The procedure took them exactly 11 and a half songs. I peeked once but then decided I better not do that again.
The anesthetic is slowly wearing off and the toe is starting to hurt..... It's wrapped into a big ass bandage.I don't think I can unwrap that on my own. Toenail-less toes look yucky and icky and what not. I am supposed to switch the bandage though in a couple days..... I know I can't ask my roommate who drove me, she got a bit queasy as well when she saw my toe.. wonder if the upstairs neighbor is back from vacation. I am sure he would help me with that.
