My mom does a lot of volunteer work for the Red Cross. She has a very high position which requires a lot of work. Anyways, today was "Red Cross Day" here in Germany which also went with a big celebration in the county capital. My mom had to go, and since there was an autograph session scheduled at her booth with Ross Antony (German singer, but I think no one besides
diapadme knows who that is LOL), my sister and I decided to tag along. He was at the booth for 4 hours signing autographs. And would you not believe, there were about a dozen of people who did nothing but stick their videocameras, cell phones and cameras right into his face for 4 long hours! Since the autograph session was in a public place, we could not barr them from standing around. But what got me really was that these group of people were not some crazy teenage girls, noooooooo, not at all! Talk about a few guys looking like Peewee Herman in his 40s and a bunch of hysteric women in their 50s wearing t-shirts plastered with Ross's face and backpacks with his name written all over. They were all giggling like madmen about Ross. One of them stood in line for an autograph - when she got there, she produced a stack of 50!!! photographs from other appearances she wanted Ross to sign! He signed for free, but when he saw the stack he told her, she'd had to donate ten bucks for each autograph to the Red Cross, then he would sign them. You know what, she left the line, went to the bank, waited in line again and produced 500 bucks. I was WTF!!! All the while, half a dozen cameras were clicking away and video cameras were rolling. Even after we set up barriers to keep them away, they'd still film and take photos from 30 feet away. Then one of them would run to a photo shop down the street, get prints of their digital pictures, wait in line and get yet another bunch of autographs (which again, Ross made them donate money to the Red Cross before he signed them). I got so disgusted by them and how they were hovering over Ross that I had to go to another booth. My sis and I found my dad in one of the other Red Cross's booths talking to some guy. We immediately had to start ranting about these stalkers and how disgusting their behaviour was to us and all. Well, turned out the guy my dad was talking to was Ross's SO and they had just talked about the exact same thing. Ross's SO (whose name just escapes me, but he's a really sweet guy) said that it gets very annoying at times, but they are both very lucky that these kind of things only happen at public appearances for a few hours and when they go home, no one bothers them. So for just a few hours, they just go along with it and smile and ignore the bozos. I now can really understand how some celebrity can get ticked off by paparazzis and stalkers like that and lose their temper. Just watching Ross on and off for a couple hours while helping my mom at the booth really ticked me off. And I wasn't the one who had the videocamera stuck in her face for four hours. Kudos to those who can handle this with a smile on their face!

Stimmt schon, wer da locker bleibt hat schon gewonnen. Und das der Ross eine solche Hysterie auslöst hätte ich ja nicht gedacht.
