As of today, I have my own business registered in my name. I am dead serious. It's all registered and all. I am now self employed LOL And this is how it all started.....

I was (and still am) having a problem finding a part time job besides classes. I really need the money to pay rent and all. Well, I came across this advertising agency in my town who was looking to hire someone to do translation work for them. The thing was, they don't employ people, they hire people or companies on a need to... work basis. Well, whenever they have work to do. LOL I sent them an email, told them I'd be willing to do a free text translation so they can see I actually can do translations. Well - they hired me. The only problem was that I have to sent them an invoice for my work to get paid which I legally only can do if I have my own business registered. So I figured, what the heck, I'll just go to city hall and have my first business registered in my name. Cost me 12 bucks *snort* but I now have my own business which is kinda sweet actually. I am thinking about putting a website online for my new company. Who knows, I might get some more work (does anyone need any translation work done? I am reasonably priced *snort*)

So there, I have my own business now. Feels kinda odd to say that but I do LOL

That's very cool. Congrats!!!! I wish you much success.

I wish I could think of some sort of business opportunity where I could be self employed.

Well, self employed is only fun when you actually make money LOLOL I only did this so I can actually make some money on the side. I don't think I could actually live from it though that would be cool.

Sammy, congrats on self-employment! I have two sites for you to sign up on: Fresh Books is a free invoicing/payment portal that is just amazingly organized and will help with the chore of book keeping (www.freshbooks.com) and a blog that is full of great ideas on freelancing of all sorts called FreelanceSwitch.com.

Holler if you need any thoughts, person to bounce stuff off on cause I stepped off the cliff 17 years ago (although I just got a full-time job). Also, if you want a free host, I have a slot if you have the domain. Also, Check out Writer's Weekly (writersweekly.com) for translation and writing gigs and information about being a freelance writer as well as translator. With your literary background it should be pretty easy to get work.

Again, congrats.
